Hello Lynn, Are you writing on a braille display or using the onscreen braille keyboard? You can change the defaults for both in Braille Settings in VoiceOVer SEttings. If you're using a display, use dots 2-3-6-chord (a low-cell 8) to toggle between contracted, six-dot, and eight-dot braille. If you're using the onscreen keyboard, flick left or right with three fingers to switch between contracted and six-dot braille.
