I an not sure if this was the problem with email, so if I missed the point forgive, please. I opened email, moved to a post several posts down on the page, and deleted. It put me right back on the nest post.
The problem comes is you open the thread and want to not read say the first four emails but want to read the fifth. You can open the fifth email, but if tie you then go back to the list of posts is does not focus on the post you just read. I really love the new mail!
