Hi Everyone,
Well yes what a difference a day makes. Not only have I set up chimes but
doorbells and chime pros and deleted them don’t ask long story. But hey
nothing’s wasted in my world. so what I now know is that the chime pro doesn’t
always improve signal strength and connectivity as advertised, bummer for me.
but since it cost me nothing I’m not complaining And the Ring app in some
instances is often like the Amazon Alexa app wherein elements often operate
better when VoiceOver is unloaded. So if you can find the locale of an element
holding your phone super still unload VoiceOver and press the element sometimes
you can get yourself out of kerfuffle's.
So yay me it can be done but I wouldn’t say it’s for the faint of hearted or
the impatient.
Now my remaining last question for my blind friends who have Ring is this.
How did you determine what motion zones I think they’re called to enable or
disable? right now I think my bells are on 6 but haven’t a clue how they got
there and am not sure if that’s optimal. Is there a way we can deal with this
or I wonder if this is something the Ring folk can check on remotely for us.
And with that I’ll return you to your regularly scheduled day.
Thanks for everyone’s help on and off list.
Take good care.
Robin

Hi Robin,

It’s been a while, but I did purchase aChime I think a year or so ago and don’t
recall having issues setting it up.

Subject: Question about the Ring Doorbell App

Hi,

To those who have ring doorbells have you been able to successful set up
components of your systems like chime units and the like? I’m finding some
accessibility issues during the setup process of a chime pro unit where
VoiceOver seems to be preventing the app from registering the selection of
various elements and the like. I was just curious if others had found any ways
around such? I’ve reported the issues to the Ring people in great polite detail
in hopes that they might fix things. Though having just read that they might be
being purchased by Amazon I wonder if that will be good or bad for
accessibility. Time will tell I suppose. Thanks in advance for any help.

Take good care.

Robin
