Hi James,

When you connect AirPods with one device, they are automatically paired with 
any other recent Apple devices on your account. You still have to use Bluetooth 
Settings or AirPlay to connect them when you switch from one iPhone or iPad to 
another, however.

If you have a non-Apple device or one that is too old to be paired 
automatically, such as an iPHone 5s, you can still pair by keeping the case 
closed, pressing the button on the back of the case for several seconds, and 
pairing as you would other devices.
