I kind of wonder the same thing as to why there are two apps.
But, there are indeed two, and I'll give the link for each,
followed by its description, at the end of this message.
I use the Walmart app often, and mostly find it easier than the
web page. However, when I got a Walmart gift card for Christmas,
and thus was looking to use that first and then pay the rest with
my debit card on file, I had to go to the web site to complete
the order. For, I just couldn't get the two payment methods to
work in the app.
As for the grocery app, I installed it, but couldn't do much with
it yet since the things it offers aren't currently available in
my area. Anyway, here are the links and descriptions for each
app:

Subject: Re: The walmart grocery app
Huh, I had no idea there was a “Wal-Mart Grocery App,” why in
the world would Wal-Mart have two different apps that essentially
(I assume) provide similar functionality? I don’t doubt you
Roger, I’m just quite surprised.
It was a few years ago when I installed the WalMart app on my iOS
devices, is this “WalMart Grocery” app something relatively
new?
Anyhow, my apologies for convoluting the thread. But, I still
find the WalMart app very, very accessible and quite convenient
to use. I’ve gone to the web page and, while it is true that
the site is accessible, I just prefer the vanilla WalMart app.

Hi Bill, you are explaining the Walmart app, not the Walmart
grocery app. The Walmart grocery app is not very accessible.
Truthfully it is easier to go to Walmart grocery in Safari and do
your shopping that way at least that is the way I do it.

While I would have to say that InstaCart is an wonderfully
accessible app, it is not available except in a few major cities.
If it were available in northern Wisconsin I’d use it
frequently. I was involved in helping a friend from Austin get
started with this app and she and her husband now use it all the
time. Hubby does not have a vision problem, but she is totally
blind and enjoys using InstaCart, but as I say - it isn’t
available in northern Wisconsin and maybe not even Milwaukee.
So much for my digression concerning InstaCart and now to the
point - namely the WalMart app. I use the WalMart frequently to
have non-perishables shipped to my very rural address with very
little trouble. It is a bit “clumsy” to use for a blind
person, but by no means impossible. It would help me answer the
problems encountered by others if there was a bit more
information in the original message - no offense meant here.
For starters, there are five tabs at the bottom of the iPhone
screen when you launch the WalMart app:
- HOME let’s you browse the online or local store or do a
specific search for particular items, brands or categories,
select item(s) and add those items to your virtual shopping cart.
- Reorder is an extremely convenient way to add item(s) to your
virtual shopping cart that you have purchased in the past.
However, there are times when an item you know darn well you have
bought in the past doesn’t appear in the “Reorder List.”
The steps to correct this is a bit complex and far too much to
discuss in an e-mail, but it is possible to search a
comprehensive list of all items you’ve ordered in the past in
the ACCOUNT tab.
- SERVICES is sort of a “Catch All” routine to request or
manage customer service matters. The only option I’ve ever
used in this tab is the “Lists” services where you can place
items in a shopping list that you create and reference at a later
time.
- CART is pretty much what it implies where you can review what
you’ve placed in your virtual shopping cart, adjust quantities,
remove items you decide you don’t really want after all or move
such items to a “Save for Later” list. This is the tab where
checkout is initiated. This checkout procedure can be a bit
tricky if you didn’t make sure you added items to your cart in
the matter you wanted. If you want items shipped to you, you
need to be sure to select the “Ship” option in the “HOME”
tab once you have opened the dialog for a specific item and
before adding it to your cart.
- ACCOUNT is the tab where you provide your information such as
name, address, e-mail address, telephone number and stored
payment methods. It also provides for searching a list of all
items you’ve ever ordered online.
I will say that in order to maximize the convenience of using
this app, I suggest that you be familiar with the rotor and the
use of such elements as headers, links, form fields and the like.
It makes using this app so very much more accessible.
Also, I will be glad to answer any more specific “how to”
questions on this matter. Just send questions directly to my
personal e-mail box at
