I know some peoplelike their Fitbit, but the Apple Watch is definitely the most advanced and most accessible watch out there. It is designed to be primarily a health and fitness device, but it works also great for some of the home automation devices, e.g. I can use it to unlock my front door and so on and in a pinch when I went to the washroom and left my iPhone elsewhere and I get a call I can answer it on my watch (just remember not to flush while you are still talking)!
