In my opinion, no one on Earth knows if a particular model will be continued to
be built, other than maybe Apple Executives.
If you are eligible for an upgrade now, I suspect you will be eligible next
year as well if you wait, right?
I believe the iPhone 7 has the A10 chip, the 8 has the I11 chip and the newer
phones announced this week have the A12 chip.
Each new chip generation is a bit faster than the previous one, also often has
more RAM in those phones, etc.
The 8 plus is going to have a noticeable increase in battery life and probably
speed in downloading larger files.
If you are happy with the 7, and it is giving you good battery life, there is
no real need to change.
I am probably in the minority, but I would use the phone until you find it is
not performing well enough for your needs.
You noticed that the iPhone X lasted exactly 1 year and now has been replaced.
So, if it were me, I'd wait and see what happens.

Good morning,
I've been reading about the new phones coming out and would like to ask
something from the experts on the list who have good and necessary knowledge.
I've had an iPhone 7 for a couple of years and I got notified that I'm eligible
to upgrade.
First, what's going to happen with the iPhone 7? Is it still a good phone and
will Apple continue to make it?
Second, should I upgrade from a 7 to an 8? I know the xr is also the least
expensive phone, but I know it won't have the touch ID or home buttons any more.
Also, how much faster or better is the 8 from the 7? I'd like to know the
differences so that I know whether it's worth it to upgrade or stay with the 7.
