First, the only dumb question is the one not asked. Shortcuts is the new feature of iOS 12 that can be used either by Siri or yu can add it to your home screen, etc. It allows you to accomplish several steps with one command. For example, to take a picture right now, you have to open the camera app and double tap on the camera/take picture button. In the Siri Settings there is a shortcut called "Say Cheese."
Yu can then add that to Siri and record a phrase to activate that shortcut. So, you could tell Siri, take a picture, Say Cheese, or any other phrase that you recorded and Siri would run that shortcut and the picture would be taken without having to press a button.
