I agree they should try and cut out a step or two, but it seemed pretty logical to me. The only place where the number is displayed and it is not identified as a button is when you first double tap on it to open the conversation, at that point you have a back button at the top left, then the number is to the right of that and you have to double tap on it to get to the next screen. Then, on that next screen, the swipe order is actually not following the visual layout. Once I double tap on the number Voiceover says “Audio”, then if I swipe right it goes to “Back”, then Voiceover again reads out th enumber, another swipe right and I get “Facetime” and then “Info”. All of these are identified as buttons. However, visually the screen looks like this: Back button at the top left, then the number is displayed Underneath the number are the 3 buttons, from left to right they are Audio, Facetime and Info. Once I got to that point it seemed logical to tap on Info, then you get a screen with “Details at the top left and a “Done” button at the top right. Underneath and also if you swipe right from “Done” the number is again read out, but this time it says “button” if you let it finish reading. One the same line as the number there is a “Facetime” and a “Call” button and then you get stuff like Send my current Location, share my location, Hide Alerts and Send read receipts, both of those are switch buttons. If You turn on Read Receipts in Settings > iMessage you can here turn this off for a specific number or, vice versa, if you have it off globally in Settings you can turn it on for selected numbers. For example, you may want to turn it off for your wife, but turn it off for your girl-friend *smile*. Anyhow, since there is no option to “Create New Contact” when I first was looking for it I double tapped on the button which was the number and then you get to the screen where you can use a 4-finger tap to get to the very last item which is Block This Caller, swipe left once from there and you have Add to Existing Contact, then Create New Contact. So, from the main message list you have to tap 4 times to get to the screen where you have the Create New Contact option. In iOS 11 I believe you had to tap first to open the message, then instead of tapping on the number you tapped on “Details” at the top right”, then I believe on Info so maybe one less tap.
which is a switch button and another one where yo in the main messagyou again since except for when you first double tap on the number/message m ost of these numbers, Info etc. are announced as buttons by Voiceover which means something should happen if you tap on them. Then, I had to do it a couple times to get the steps in my head. I hope it is somewhere in the iOS 12 user guide, but who is going to read that much? It is amazing that you figured it out. On 9/19/18, Richard Turner <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: Yes, it seems like there is one more layer at least. Open the text message. Then double tap on the phone number. Then, double tap on the phone number again. Then flick right to the info button and double tap. You have to then double tap again on the number before you find the create contact option where it usually shows up. Pretty convoluted. I swear i could do this in ios 11, but I cannot figure this out in IOS 12. So I have an i-message from a 10-digit number, and I would really like to make this individual into a contact. I have tapped everywhere, but the web results are few and far between since the operating system is new. Most of the results tell you how to block senders. So, does anyone know how to create a contact from a sender who is not yet a contact? Thanks for any assistance. -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
