I love having iCloud keep my contacts. I add them in Outlook on the PC in a
folder created when you tick that box to have iCloud sync contacts. Then, as
soon as I put a new contact in the iCloud/Contacts folder, they are available
on my phone in seconds. I keep contacts for my iphone, my husband’s iphone, and
a email distribution list- all seperat in their own folders under
iCloud/contacts. When I add a new contact, I no longer put it in the Outlook
contacts folder. I love the fact that iCloud has all my contacts safely stored
and I don’t have to worry about a computer or Outlook meltdown losing all my
contacts- again!

You don’t have to mess with the iCloud control panel very often- and when
required, the checkboxes are quite accessible. Just don’t sign out when you
finish or all your contacts will disappear and you will scream if you’re like
me ;)

(You have to stay signed in for iCloud to do its thing.)

Subject: Turning on Contacts and Calendars in iPhone iCloud Settings. Any
potential problem?

Hi List,

I have historically used Outlook on my Windows 7 computer to maintain my
contacts and calendars and to sync them to my iPhone using iTunes. Even though
I have downloaded iCloud to my computer, I never run it because of issues I
seem to remember about accessibility. I keep hearing more about how iCloud is
doing more in the backup realm so I scrolled through my iCloud settings on my
iPhone 8 to check what is turned on or not. I have just about everything turned
on except for Contacts and Calendars because I'm nervous about causing any
duplication with these.

Can someone who has used iTunes to sync contacts and calendars between an
iDevice and their computer and is now using iCloud comment on whether there is
a downside to my turning contacts and calendars on under iCloud on my iPhone?

I am using an iPhone 8 running iOS 11.41.

Thanks in advance for your help.
