braille screen input problems?

HI, I tried to use the braille screen input for the first time since installing IOS 12. It definitely has problems.  When touching the spot for dot 1 or dot 2 it always says "a".  I can't get it to announce comma at all. It also seems that the spots on the screen are narrower now so it is harder to do accurate braille keyboarding. I am using it in away mode on an Iphone six. Anyone else having these issues?
