Yes, the updat notifications are sent out in groups so as not to crash the Apple servers. I hadn’t gotten the notification on my 8 Plus when I down loaded iOS 12 on Thursday, but it was there within settings. I did have to wait for an hour or so for it to begin down loading, and then it took a couple hours.
There was probably an Internet traffic jam because of people watching the court nomination hearing, and the fact it was during the day here to start with. Regardless, it seems to be functioning well, though I noticed yesterday my account in mail didn’t function correctly, but that’s another matter to investigate.
