As Richard said, when on the recents tab, double tap the Edit button at the top right of the screen, it turns into a Done button and at the top left you now have a “Clear” button and this is basically the clear all recents, if you double tap it you get two options: Clear All Recents or Cancel, these are buttons so as soon as you double tap Clear all Recents your recent call list will be empty.
