Hi Mary,
Thanks very much for keeping the list abreast of you're impressions.
I quite concur with you and Deb about releasing these adaptive tech
products when there ready, as a pose to the current situation.
Best,
Sadam Ahmed

It continues to frustrate me that products are released before they're
developed. If I buy a display I'd like it to work with all reasonable
operating systems and modalities. From the description, it sounds like
this would be much too bulky to carry around with your phone though?
Did you think it would be manageable?

Hi all,
I have had in my possession for the past few days, a Q braille display from
Hims. This is the one that has the braille key entry but also has the usual
complement of arrows and control et Cetera keys like a regular keyboard
would have. The idea is supposed to be that you can operate this device in
hybrid mode, making a connection for the display and another one for the
keyboard, so that you don’t have the learning curve that is associated with
using braille display and a phone or PC or Mac. Unfortunately, and this is
not stated anywhere in the manual, the VO keys have not been fully
implemented. So hybrid mode on the phone is a waste of time at this point.
I’m not sure about the Mac, since I did not try it there. It’s a very nice
device. But it’s not ready for prime time if you think you’re going to be
able to use it with a phone in hybrid mode. The big problem is that in order
to use VO keys effectively, you either need to be in quick nav mode, or you
need to have a whole lot of fingers, since you need to do the vo keys plus
letters. So the absence of quick nav mode is a real problem. A few VO things
do work, such as vo plus a to read from cursor to bottom of document, or vo
plus Que to go into keyboard help.
