Hello Keith,

There is really nothing for me to share as each wireless provider offers its
own menu of service options based on how fast, how much data, and how many
lines one wishes to select.

I know some people who are paying as little as $60 per month for unlimited
talk. Text, and data, including mobile tethering with only one line in service.

Do some shopping around and ask others in your very local area which wireless
provider they prefer. For example, Verizon Wireless may work better in one
area while A T & T may work better in another.

I have a friend who was a long time A T & T Wireless subscriber; then, she
moved to a new apartment and simply could not get the signal inside her home.
So, she switched to Verizon Wireless because, even inside her apartment, she
gets 4 out of 4 bars of service strength.

There is a lot of competition, out there, so do some shopping around.

Mark

Thanks for this. Can you share about how much of a premium you need to pay for
the upgrade to a mobile data plan?

Thanks, Keith

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Mark on Apple's Instant Hotspot Feature

Hello Everyone,

Well, I finally upgraded my mobile data plan to include high speed mobile
sharing data.

The first thing I did was to test out Apple's instant hotspot feature by
sharing my cellular data connection between my beloved iPhone 8 Plus and my
MacBook Pro; and I must say that it is most impressive. In fact, it's so
impressive that it almost feels like magic as everything just works.

What is instant Hotspot?

Instant Hotspot is part of Continuity, and lets you share the data connection
from your iPhone or cellular iPad with your Mac or other device.
It's different from Personal Hotspot, which requires a password and connects
like a standard Wi-Fi router, in that it uses your Apple ID for authentication,
Bluetooth Low Energy (BT LE) for rapid connection, and Wi-Fi for data transfer.
So it's much faster and more convenient, but it's really only meant for your
Apple devices.

I didn't have to enter any passwords and the connection was faster than any
hardwired USB tethering I've ever used.

If you have not yet done so, give it a try. Say what you will about Apple but
note this in your book, when they do decide to do something unique, it's
really, really unique.

For more information in setting up and using Instant Hotspot, go to:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204681.

Enjoy,

Mark
