Hey Mark, I'm sure glad this charging pad isn't even nicer, next thing I read
the headline about the blind guy who took his wireless charging pad to Vegas to
get married to it *smile*.
But it is good to know that not all wireless charging pads are made equal and
that sometimes paying a bit more does get you a better product.
In a year or two when I finally part with my trusty 6S Plus I'll make sure to
buy a good one since I fully intend to do what Marc Spagnuolo from the
Woodwhisperer Podcast did which is to use a router to make a resessed area the
size of the charging pad underneath the desktop and install it in there with a
few dobs of hot glue. Using the trial and error method he found out that he
could leave about 3/16 of an inch (4.5 to 5mm) of wood and his iPhone still
charged if he put it on top of the desk above the charging pad. He first tried
a quarter inch (6mm) and it wouldn't work and he said leaving only 1/8 inch
(3mm) may cause the area to be toothin so that 4 to 5mm thickness seemed to
work although I think he said for this to work the phone couldn't also be in a
case. But of course in a year or two this technology may have become good
enough to work at slightly larger distances.

Subject: A Charging Pad for iPhone 8 Plus

Hello All,

I went to the Apple Store with a friend today and decided to purchase the
special edition Belkin charging pad for my beloved 8 Plus. It was $20 more
than the original model but well worth it as I do not have to pay any
special attention to where I place my phone. I just lay it on the pad and
it begins charging. Nice.

Even better, the pad is rated at 7.5 watts, as opposed to the standard 5
watt adapter that ships with the phone. So, in addition to the added
convenience, the phone recharges faster on the pad than it would were I to
use the original A/C adapter that shipped with 8 Plus. Very nice, indeed.

I have my 8 Plus in a leather Case Mate folio case with 4-card slots and a
sleeve. It basically look just like a wallet with four slots for credit
cards, photo identification, paper money, etc.

As the case does not impede the charger, there is no need to remove the
phone from the case when placing it on the pad; even nicer, still.

Very, very nice, (smile).

Mark
