Sieghard, I'm not sure if it's so much an accessibility as a usability issue.  I don't have any handy sighted folks around to ask to see whether or not they have access to this info while swiping around in there.

If there is indeed no visual information about a video from the main home screen than it's more of a usability issue to me.  On the other hand, if they can indeed see the channel info then there's definitely some kind of access issue.

I've noticed that since the 12.X iOS update VO will announce that there is "possible text" in places in Youtube where there isn't any text to be found.

Nice to know Google is so concerned about accessibility!
You do know that Youtube is owned by Google so you have to email their
accessibility team.

Wow, what an epic disaster. And people wonder why some of us cling
desperately to old versions of apps. I've never e-mailed an app
developer before, but I do hope to try and get in touch with this one
somehow. I deeply regret having updated.

Thanks very much for commiserating!

Hi, Shermeen.

Unfortunately, YouTube, in their infinite wisdom, made this change
several updates ago.  If you look at your subscription tab you can see
the videos and which channel has posted them, but this only works for
those channels to which you've already subscribed.

As far as I can tell, there's no way to find out what channel has posted
a video until you double-tap and start playing the video, or even the ad
if there is one.  While on the video player screen, swipe right to the
expand description button and double-tap it, you can see the channel
name, as well as a brief summary of the video. You can also swipe right
past the expand description button and the name of the channel is there
and is a button you can double-tap on to get more information or see
other videos posted by that channel.

If there is a more efficient way to do this I would love to know it.

Hi all,

Apologies for being the kid who only rushes to the list when
something's wrong, but I recently updated my youtube app because it
started yelling at me about being old and outdated (what else is new,
right?), and of course, the update feels unfamiliar and incomplete.
When I now launch the app and swipe through recommended videos, either
uploaded by people to whom I've subscribed or ones that youtube
correctly thinks may interest me, I can no longer see the name of the
channel/user. Is there a way that this can be done? I follow a lot of
people on youtube that, for example, review similar types of things,
and I'd like very much to know who's channel I'm watching before
clicking on a video. please tell me this is possible?

Thanks so much in advance,

Shermeen
