I am not sure, but if it has been a long time you may have 2-step verification set up which is slightly different from 2-factor authentication.
Read the below Apple support article, it seems that if you had 2-step verification that you may have automatically been upgraded to 2-factor authentication when you started using iOS 11, but I'd follow the steps outlined to check this and make sure. If you are at all worried and if 2-factor authentication is what is indeed turned on you can always turn this off temporarily and once you have your new iPhone all set up turn it backon.
