Hi all:
I've been reading different questions and responses regarding Braille displays and as an instructor, I would like to clarify something. A Braille display can have a feature, but that feature may not be supported by all screen readers. I recall someone asking which Braille display can pan or scroll automatically. My response is many can, but not with all screen readers. I myself have the Focus 40 fifth generation. I can auto pan Braille while I'm using it with JAWS and Windows, because the Focus has the feature and JAWS supports it. However, I do not believe VoiceOver for iOS currently supports it so at this time, the Focus can not auto pan while using the iPhone. If someone has a Braille display that can auto pan or scroll while using VoiceOver, I would love to know about it. I often say, if you have the best sound card, but match box sounding speakers, its still going to sound like a matchbox. If you have a terrible sound card, and the best sounding speakers its still not going to sound good. In other words, you need both to support each other.
