Thanks Richard. She is using her new iPhone XR which she loves by the way. After I sent the message to the list, I mentioned that I thought iBooks would read PDF documents. She said there isn’t iBooks but there is Books so she copied the document into it and it worked like a charm.

I do not have a Mac, but on an iPhone or iPad, I just double tap on the attachment and it will download the file, double tap again and it will be in viewing mode, at which point a two finger flick down will read it through unless there are some odd codes that stop it reading. Then I flick right with one finger, and then down with two and it will pick up reading again.
