Yes, I would assume that when the app developer codes the app, they can
specify if the field is for an email address or not. If so, you get the
@ sign and the period, if not, you get the standard text editing
keyboard. I'm just guessing though.

Stupid question and I assume it is how an app is programmed, however,
how is it that sometimes when you are on an edit field that requires
an email address to be filled in that the @ sign and a period are next
to the space bar on the virtual keyboard and in some cases it is not.
Any insight would be helpful.
