So far, I have been able to send and receive messages with my cousin on her Samsung, sent my son one, assume that he got it - was a message that did not require response, in a group text. I did turn on SMS though. Below that it explains that SMS is used when iMessage is not available. Since Androids cannot receive iMessages this has to be on. If it is, and still does work, I'd call Apple Accessibility.
