The same can be said for HP and probably Canon. I have always been partial to HP printers and I completely agree that one should only get a colour printed if absolutely necessary, also if you don't need a colour printer you absolutely should get a Laser printer and not an inkjet printer. OK, this last comment applies more if you print very infrequently. I recently replaced my HP Laserjet 1012 which I bought probably around 2002 or 2003 with an HP Laserjet Pro M102W. It cost less than $100 on Amazon and it's a nice little printer, I just need this one in my office primarily for printing cheques and the occasional document, but I have a larger OfficeJet which can do colour if I print more. This M102W can not do automatic duplex printing, for my usage that is OK, but if it was my main printer I would never buy one which can't do that.
