Just a little input from a bluetooth user and perhaps something to keep in mind
for those dealing with the wifi app issues.

While the bluetooth app is completely accessible, the reason why I think I at
least and other blind owners of this device like it so much is not necessarily
because every button and function is accessible, but the fact that particular
information such as temperature, time remaining and keep warm time are easily
reviewable. Along with the ability to set the timers and start/stop the
process.

All the recipes and presets like beans, meat, rice, etc. with maybe the
exceptions of yogurt and saute really are kind of superfluous since you’ll more
often than not be going off of recipes that will simply require the manual
function. Even then, saute is a turn on/ turn off type of deal. I’m guessing
that’s a physical button they left on the new hardware design.

Indeed, I think Instantpot recognized this reality with the newer models by
doing away with a lot of those preset buttons since everyone basically just
uses manual

So, I have no idea on how the app for the new wifi model is structured and
since I’ve already got the bluetooth model, I have no need to get the wifi
version, but if this basic info of time remaining/keep warm and the ability to
set the cooking/saute time is VO accessible, the other stuff is really kind of
ancillary and not essential to using the pressure cooker.

There are a ton of resources out there with an endless supply of instant pot
recipes, tweaks and hacks that if you can access this info, you’re going to be
fine.

IF this info in the app is in fact not VO accessible, then yeah, complain day
and night to Instant Pot

to know?

It is an excellent price which is what drew me and got me to order one. Also
the accessibility isn't horrible. If you are determined to be able to use this
instant pot you could probably do it. With some exploring around and a little
guesswork it is most likely useable by a blind person.

You do want to be sure to get the app that says instant pot and not the one
that says instant pot smart cooker. That was my first mistake and the root of
most of my frustration. With the correct app, the pairing is pretty
straightforward and works much like the pairing of amazon's echo devices.

Another thing to be aware of is the number of buttons on the front of the pot.
There are two virtical rows of six buttons and two virtical rows of three
buttons. I can't tell you what most of them do as I didn't really get that far
with my pot before packing it back in the box. I can tell you the pairing
button is the top button in the second column from the left. You will want to
press that one when the app prompts you and hold it for a couple seconds.

If you do decide to get an instant pot, I wish you the best and many happy
hours of cooking.

I've heard about the accessiblity problems with the new app for this version of
the Instant Pot. What's the issue? Are there unlabeled buttons or spots where
the app is entirely unusable by a VO user?

I wonder how long it would take for the company to fix their app. Is it being
developed by the same people (I'm assuming it's the actual company) who
developed the first app for the bluetooth model? Has anyone contacted the
company about the issues they're facing with the new app?

Basically, I'm trying to figure out if I should get this new model. I've never
had an Instant Pot, so I'm a completely new user. It's such a steal at $90
right now! I'm so tempted, but I'm also worried about being able to use the
thing when I get it.

Thanks,
Ari
