Hello Tracy, Well, the simple answer to your question is, "Yes."
You can definitely keep track of the number of steps you take on a treadmill. In fact, I do this exact same thing. Many people on the list have their favorite third-party apps for this purpose but you can use the built-in pedometer that is located inside of the native Workout app. As for notifications? The watch can definitely give you feedback on when your stated goals have been met for the day; exactly how this is configured, I have not yet explored as I prefer to use a third-party app called Fit Port as my primary pedometer.
