No, the phone's name is of no importance when it comes to restoring a backup
and in fact I prefer to add something to the name to identify the phone.

Subject: Restoring a backup to a new phone

Hi all,

When restoring a  backup of an old phone to a  new model is it necessary for
the new phone to have the same name as the original phone? I changed the name
on the new phone slightly to make identification easier but there seem to be
some odd quirks, not major, but I am wondering if perhaps I should have kept
the name the same?

For example a  purchased song on the old phone was accidently deleted.
When I search for it on Itunes it shows up as purchased but pressing the
download button doesn't do anything (using the same Apple id of course).

Any comments welcome.

Gary
