While Amazon owns Audible, the Amazon app or, for that matter, the Amazon website is completely independent from the Audible app and website. As others have pointed out, you can only purchase books for credits or cash on the Audible website and you can do that on the iPhone using Safari and going to www.Audible.com or by going to the website using a PC and your browser of choice.
