The usual way to use the app is to search for the foods so that you
know how many points are assigned. It will also collect a list of your
favorites.
I think the website is much easier to use overall. It remembers more
foods, allows you to change settings etc. which the app does not. But
the app is quite accessible as is the site.
If you are going to the meetings, the app will update with your weight
when they weigh you. Otherwise, you can sync it with some scales and
some activity trackers or can update those things manually. In my case
it's synced to my Apple watch which updates my activity automatically.
I scan the food packages and it fills in th epoints, and I search for
other foods and it provides the points. So while it's true you can
type in th efood, you usually don't.
