I've noticed this issue with the app store in IOS 6 on both my
iPhone 4s and iPad2.
If an update or two is available the badge on the icon will list how
many are ready.
If I go into the app store under the updates tab it will say "all
apps are up to date".
The only way to actually see the updates is to force close the app
store and reopen it.
