Maria, If the iPad was set up by a sighted person without Voiceover it is highly unlikely that the accessibility shortcut is configured hence triple clicking the home button will not work. Asking SIRI will work as long as the iPad has an active internet connection either via WiFi or if it is a cellular model with an active data plan.
