The only app I can think of that downloads the maps onto your phone is Nearby Explorer from American Printing House for the Blind. It is $79.99. It may occasionally need a cell network; but by and large, it uses the GPS satellites and GPS receiver in the phone. The maps for North America including Canada take a bit over 4 GB, but you can choose to only download US or Canada to save space. I do not know about other countries. HTH, Richard
