I have both the rain and wind gauge. The rain gauge is accessible, it gives you total rainfall, how much is coming down per hour but just as with other measurements once the day is over you can’t access the data from previous days. Keep in mind that it needs to be properly installed on a fence, railing or a free-standing pole and that it needs to be perfectly level for it to be accurate. Mine is currently inside as it is each winter from around the beginning or the middle of November until the end of March or early April. It usually snows during these month where I live and while it rains here and there if it happens to warm up above 0, it usually goes below freezing at night and I don’t think it’s that good for the rain gauge to freeze and thaw or to simply be out when it’s minus 20 or 30 below as it was for a good amount of the last 3 weeks or so.
I still haven’t properly installed the wind gauge, it needs to be on a pole preferably at least 3 feet above the highest part of my roof. In my case I’ll probably put it on a 4 foot pole because we have years like last winter when we had almost 3 feet of snow on the roof. One thing I noticed is that while the wind gauge gives you wind speed, average wind speed and maximum gusts, Voiceover does not announce wind direction. I have to get a sighted person to look, but I assume that information is displayed since when you install the wind gauge you have to do so using a compass so you can point the arrow on the wind gauge to the North.
