Smart Beetle and Onscreen Keyboard

Hi, All,

Lately, it seems that I can either input text using my Smart Beetle Braille display or input directly on my 6s phone. To use Braille input requires me to unhide the onscreen keyboard; to input directly from the phone requires me to unhide the onscreen keyboard. Is there a way to enter text via either method withou having to switch the keyboard setting on and off?
