The biggest thing probably to get used to are the containers on the iPad. They're basically frames on the screen. Other than that, and for a few exceptions such as pinching, four finger swiping, etc. gestures are the same.
If your need isn't immediate, I would perhaps suggest waiting a few extra weeks to see when or if Apple's going to introduce their mythical iPad Mini sometime in October.
