You can use PayPal I believe as well as iTunes gift cards. The gift card thing is helpful say if you've are part of a family and you want to make in app purchases with games or whatever and not have to deal with it getting charged to the main account holder's method of payment, but rather have it come out of your iTunes credit. I suppose you can also use one of those prepaid debit cards you can get at any gas station or grocery store and simply add funds to it as you go.
