Our HOA pays for basic service, but each user has their own account, and pays for any aditional services, such as premium channels, etc. Personally, I set up my account on their web site, and only had to enter my creds when first signing into the app.

If the app gets the sign on information from your spectrum modem then you can only use it when you are in range of that particular modem. That is the way my husband‘s iPhone is set up. I set mine up by putting in the user name and password and I can use it even when there is no spectrum available. My only complaint about the app is that I like to use the live TV tab to pick what to watch. I have not found a way to turn off the video sound so that I can hear the voiceover reading the other choices. Very aggravating but usable .
