If you are in the beta and wish to go back to the most recent stable
build you would have to delete the profile and connect to iTunes to go
back. If you're just trying to get out of the beta you would just delete
the profile and wait for the next stable build to come out.

I thought all you have to do to get out of Beta is to delete the
provisioning profile and then do a check for updates. I don’t think
you have to hook your phone up to a computer and force it into
recovery mode and all that.

Hi,
I would strongly recommend installing the latest non-beta iOS onto the
phone. You can do this by putting the phone in recovery mode,
connecting it to a computer, and allowing it to download the latest
software. This will reset the phone to defaults at the same time. Just
be sure to sign out of Find my iPhone and your Apple ID first.
