I have a feeling this is just the beginning of something which could
turn out to be pretty sweet. Not only would more flexible scheduling
be nice, but location-based DND would be fabulous too.

It's worth noting that Do Not Disturb has some distinct advantages
over using the mute switch. Save for the bug if speak notifications in
the lock screen is turned on, VoiceOver is completely silent when you
receive a notification when in Do Not Disturb mode. But in my
experience if you use the mute switch, VoiceOver behaves exactly the
same as it always does. That is to say, at the very least you'll hear
the time announced when the phone wakes up.
