I was able to get the 2 iphones working on itunes that had the same iphone name and the same model number. I thought this was very normal since they don't have the same serial number, so there is a unique id profile. The third iphone has the same iphone name as the first 2, but it's serial number is different, so I was pretty sure the iphone name wouldn't matter. As a matter of fact the 4th iphone had a different name and the ipad had a different name. Well, the first thing I discovered was that I had a faulty cable in trouble shooting that was after asking all of you how many phones you could hook up to itunes. Well, so here's what happened, After replacing the faulty cable with a new one, everything worked corectly with all 4 iphones and the ipad hooked up to itunes allat the same time. However, If you want home sharing to work on all your devices go into settings go into music swipe over to home sharing Then you'll need to sign in with your apple id and password, you should only need to do this once. If you ever decide you don't want to be signed in any more, go in there and tap on your user id and there will be a sign out button. Important, home sharing has to be enabled in itunes, you'll find that in the file menue. Home sharing is a very useful feature, because if you want to have access to books, music,podcast etc, you wouldn't have to have all this on your iphone unless you're going to travel some. Of course it's easy to put a few things on your phone for that and just as easy to take them off. I believe that this would especially be handy for those of you that don't have a lot of storage on your phone. In addition, with what I just shared, Alan's message would be very important to read and go to the information he sent. Hopefully one day they will think to include profiles in iTunes like they have in windows so that when you open iTunes you will get a list of profiles that you just point to your own and then type in your password. I use my computer and iTunes to back up both my iPhone and my Mom's iPhone. If I understand things, iTunes can only be connected to one Apple ID at a time. So if I'm going to work with my Mom's phone, I have to sign out and sign in with her info when I hook her phone up.
