Hi, Joshua!

I read some of your earlier posts but I missed what kind of phone you are using right now. If that is a old Symbian Nokia or some Android phone there should be a chance to transfer your contacts to the future iPhone you're getting. On the other hand, if you're using so called dumbphone I don't know if there is a solution for you.

Now when through with guessing here's some ideas.

If you have Symbian device older than 9.2 you can export your contacts through backup functions to your memory card and than copy the VCF files and import it on the iPhone using some 3rd party apps. If the Symbian is 9.3 or higher there's a good chance you'll have the option to backup your contacts to single VCF file and you have less work to do when importing contacts to iPhone.

I remember my situation from eight years ago when I was not so into iOS and iPhones, I managed to transfer my contacts using Windows PC and MS Outlook and it was so complicated I doubt I could recreate the steps but now there are much more ways and solutions.

And if you're using Android phone, you should just access your Gmail account on it, enable contacts sync and transfer your contacts from SIM memory to Gmail account. On your new iPHone, sign in to the Gmail account and enable syncing of contacts and that's it. You can normally use iPhone with Gmail account for mail, contacts and other things. Apple account is needed for App Store, Facetime, iMessage and some other things but regarding contacts management the Gmail account will do just fine.

It has maybe been a couple weeks since I've joined this email list.
However, since I've joined, I already feel as if I've learned some
things. Just reading how helpful those of you all are to those who
even have had their iDevices for a long time is very refreshing. I
can't wait to get my hands on my new iPhone. Even if I can't get my
contacts on to my new phone I have a plan to get most of them back. I
know once I learn my phone, I hope that I will be able to help someone
when they have a new device. Thanks for all the articles posted, and
it is so cool to hear from those of you on the list who have actually
written books on how to use the iPhone's and similar devices. I also
want to commend those of you who are somewhat elderly and still choose
to use the iDevices. I have no idea if being elderly would make it
more difficult to learn or not. Its just cool that you guys don't
want to give up. I know of one person who is elderly and she has
insisted on various lists that she is to old to learn something like
an iPhone. I know that everyone has their own situations, but I just
wish that this person would at least look at an iPhone to see if she
could learn it or not. Saying you are to old to learn something
without even trying it seems kind of defeating to my way of thinking.
I'm an acoustic guitar player. When I got my first guitar and started
learning how to play it, I never went into my practicing thinking that
I couldn't learn a new chord or a new song. Sorry for kind of
rambling, but keep up the great work all. Again, I'm so glad to have
a list that I know there are people who I can turn to if I have
problems.
