Hello. Apple Pay is in the iPhone 6 and later. You don't need to hand your phone to the clerk, and I wouldn't do that anyway if I were using Apple Pay. There should be an NFC sensor on or near the keypad. Hold your phone close to the sensor with the back camera facing the sensor. I hold a finger I have Touch ID set up with on the home button, and then I feel a vibration and the phone dings and is charged for the purchase. In the event that it does not ding after a moment or two, I may have to remove my finger and then place it again. Usually the second time I place it on the home button, my purchase goes through. If you do not have Touch ID set, or if it does not recognize the finger after a few times, it may prompt for a passcode. Not all businesses support Apple Pay, but the numbers are growing all the time.
