Joshua, you are so right. At my job we had an old DOS machine running Artic Business Vision, which was, at the time it was new, the "best speech out there." ARGH! I mean, it got the job done. Then after that DecTalk was the best. Then came Eloquence which I have used all my computer life and so fine to be the most comfortable. I dislike the voice in NVDA. It's all in what your ears find pleasant or useful. Synthetic speech has certainly come a long way.
