Hello Vickie. You didn't mention which app you're unhappy with. This may help people point you to better alternatives. There are certainly a few accessible alternatives you might try. If you have no qualms about sharing data with Google, their Google Calendar app seems very accessible and would certainly handle the tasks you expressed an interest in. There's the Fantastical2 app which combines calendar and reminders into one app. I've been a very happy use of this app until quite recently. Currently, I find it a bit prone to jump around at the moment but it'll doubtless be addressed soon. Another more expensive accessible alternative is VO Calendar. It's designed especially for use by blind people.
Hope that gives you a few possibilities to look into. I'm always interested in apps which others have found useful so I'll keep a keen ear on any replies here.
