I don't quite follow what you are trying to do. What does a contact on your phone have to do with connecting your Mac to your WiFi? Is there a reason why you can't simply type in your WiFi password? If you want to make sure you are typing it correctly just type it first in a text editor, copy it to the clipboard and then paste it into the field for the WiFi password.
