I have several different BT headsets and no problem with VO coming through. I believe the problems are mainly with Bose speakers and headphones. I bought a Trekx Air for the ability to pair with two devices and switch between them automatically but am less than thrilled. The sound quality on phone calls is absolutely awful so that kind of takes away the use of the auto switching. Even though you have to manually switch the Apple Air pods, they are without doubt the nicest headset I have ever used. There is almost zero latency, the sound for both listening to music or books and on phone calls is fantastic and the use of Siri is a total pleasure. Despite the high price tag and the short battery life, in my opinion, they are my very favorites. The Plantronics Edge is my next favorite and it does handle the auto switching quite well and the price is lower. They have good sound but too much lag time when using VO, and the battery life is little better than the Air Pods.

I wouldn't mind VO not coming through an actual speaker, but obviously with earbuds that would be a significant problem. I wasn't sure if VO had the capability of differentiating between the two.

I guess you won't know until you try since this seems to be very specific to certain headsets or speakers. I have a Logitech H800 headset which can be used with a PC via a USB dongle and it also has Bluetooth to connect to my iPhone and it works perfectly fine as does my Aftershokz and also two Bluetooth speakers I have, both sounds and Voiceover come through the speaker. I can't remember the name now, but it seems to be mostly one person or maybe one or two more who have reported this issue.

I am about to update to iOS 13, and I've heard that when connected to a bluetooth speaker, VO output comes through the iPhone speaker but all other sounds go to the bluetooth speaker. Is this true of earbuds also, or will VO still speak through bluetooth earbuds?
