Hi Marie, You tell your carrier you have an LTE watch, and they do the basic setup. You agree to terms as part of the watch setup. With most carriers, it costs US$10 a month to add the watch. And you're right; the phone and watch don't have to be near each other for you to answer a call on the watch.
