Mark,
The question was how to do this from an iPhone.
Saying you did it doesn't give any detail about which app, or how you managed
it other than having a sighted person insert the envelope.
It sounds like he has an AirPrint enabled printer, so let's assume the envelope
is in the printer.
What are the steps to get an address printed on it?

Hello Rich, et al,

This is a very interesting topic and one which I have carefully dealt with over
the years.

As for me, I believe that the key to successfully printing envelopes, on the
actual envelopes, themselves has to do with the type of printer one is using.

I always purchase printers with multiple sheet feeders one being dedicated to
envelopes. As I generally do not find multiple sheet feeders on inkjet
printers, I purchase laser printers, only.

After a totally blind / low vision person learns how to insert the envelope
into the dedicated sheet feeder, based on his needs, then almost any word
processor can easily be configured, on the fly, to print on the envelope.

It is for this reason, why I don't think there are many, if any at all, apps
specifically dedicated to printing envelopes.

Just so you know, I use an old Samsung laser printer that, at the time of
purchase, costs $49; not on sale. I say "old" but I purchased it back in 2013
or so. I use Microsoft word 2007 to print envelopes.

The trick is to get a sighted person to help you learn how to insert the
envelope into the printer, the first couple of times, after that, it's pretty
much smooth sailing.

As for iOS apps, I have successfully printed envelopes from iPhone to an
AirPrinter but the key to this was that I had a sighted person insert the
envelope into the printer as I was at a remote location and we were simply
helping out a friend.

Good Luck,

Mark

Subject: Re: App For Printing Envelopes?

I have never tried to do this.
In looking through the app store, and doing a little searching on the web, it
sounds somewhat difficult if it can be done.
You are supposed to be able to do this with the Pages app, according to one
article; but I do not use Pages, so am not sure if that is something one could
do using VoiceOver.
I only found one app that sounded like it might do that, but the description
makes me think it is a purely visual app. No mention of VoiceOver, and it had
low ratings anyway and had not been updated for a few years.
So, unless someone has a solid way to do this, I think getting sighted help is
your best bet.
