you can download in Word, ePub, DAISY, or BRF. The problem with word format, is you have no easy way to navigate sections, or get back to where you stopped reading. Voice Dream Reader is truly the best app for reading Bookshare books, and for my money, most other files.

The nice thing about having different text to speech voices is that when you read a bookshare book and it comes from a different country you can find the voice with the appropriate accent. If I read a book that took place in England, I could use a British accented voice, or maybe Australia, I could find a voice with that accent. Each voice only costs $5 per voice. Good luck.
