You need to select the enhanced version of Ava. To do this, go into VoiceOver and Speech, Double tap on the default voice or the voice in the language slot you want to change. Next, flick right through the voice choices to get to the Ava voice. Double tap this and you'll be in that particular voice's area. Flick right and you should find the Ava enhanced" option and double tap that. Enhanced voices are larger files so you need to intentionally choose this varient of the voice. It will then download if it hasn't already and you'll start hearing it once it installs. Some voices like Siri voices don't have an enhanced version since those are only offered in the highest possible quality. Hope that helps.
