I think the original poster was talking about on the computer.
I’ve not had their experience so have no helpful suggestions other than 
searching out podcasts on using iTunes, or calling Apple Accessibility: 
877-204-3930 or Microsoft Accessibility if this is on Windows: 800-936-5900.

When I have an app and I am unfamiliar with I do with two finger swipe up and 
read the entire screen so that I could see how the elements interact.
Then go through the elements one by one until you find the one you want.
